Mt Kosciuszko Summit walk is an iconic walk to the top of the highest mountain in Australia. This beautiful walk winds through the pristine landscape offering high altitude vistas, a rich display of wildflowers, creeks, ponds with crystal clear water, snow-capped peaks and Lake Cootapatamba, Australia's highest lake. At Mt Kosciusko peak Summit walk can either be started from Thredbo, which is a grade 3, 13 Km return from the top of the chairlift or from Charlotte Pass, which is a hard 18.6 km return walk.  We left Sydney on Saturday and spent the night in Jindabyne. We parked at the Thredbo Village,  a picturesque alpine village and a ski resort situated at the base of the mountain. Rose Bay to Watson Bay is another popular and scenic track in the Sydney Harbour National Park. This moderate level walk covers roughly an 8 Km stretch of beautiful coastline and passes through many hidden beaches, some historic buildings and offers wonderful views of Sydney Harbour from different angles. We took a ferry from Circular Quay to Rose Bay, a quite enjoyable 15-minute ferry ride again offering a chance to enjoy the magnificent Sydney Harbour. Enjoying the Ferry Ride First and the best section of the Rose Bay to Watson Bay walk is the  Hermitage Foreshore walking track. It is a 1.8 Km, grade 3 walk starting from Hermitage Foreshore Reserve and passes through Queen Beach, Hermitage Point, Stickland House, Milk Beach, Shark Beach and the Nielson Park. Rose Bay Beach It is a bit tricky to find the start of the walk from Rose Bay wharf and we had to depend on Google Maps.  We walked to the Rose Bay Beach passing Sydney Sea Planes and Lyne Park. At the very end of the beach, ther

The Glowworm tunnel is a popular attraction in the Wollemi National Park. The tunnel can be accessed by an easy 1.5 km walk from the car park at the end of the Glowworm tunnel road. This can also be accessed from Old Coach Road or Wolgan Valley road near Newnes.  The 400m disused railway tunnel, which was once part of the Newnes Railway line is now taken over by the Glowworms. The railway line was constructed to service Newnes Oil Shale mine and operated from 1907 to 1932. Once the mine was closed, the railway line was also abandoned and the track was dismantled. Glowworm Tunnel - Lithgow The Glowworms found inside the tunnel are the larvae of the fungus gnat. During the larvae stage, they are bioluminescent and emits a blue-green light as a result of a chemical reaction in the body. This helps to attract prey like mosquitoes to their sticky webs. How clever are the Glowworms!!  The railway line passes through two tunnels and you could drive through the first and continue up to the car
